US body, mind workout hits the UK
29 Jan 2008

A new fitness trend, already popular in the US and Japan, has made its way to the gyms of the UK, introducing a whole body and mind workout.
Drums Alive is a new fitness concept that aims to burn calories, tone the upper and lower body as well as providing workout fans with a feel-good factor.
Developed by American fitness expert Carrie Ekins, this style of workout combines high-energy rhythmical movement with body toning and coordination.
Virgin Active has launched the classes as a latest addition to its range of motivational exercise classes, including Power Plate, Hulaerobics, yoga and Pilates.
The programme not only gives the body a full aerobic workout but also offers psychological and stress-relieving benefits for busy mums, boosting wellbeing and overall health.
For those who are new to the gym, Virgin Active said: "Drums Alive is an ideal workout to ease into a new fitness and wellness lifestyle. Unlike pounding away on the treadmill, those who have tried Drums Alive frequently comment on how they forget that they are working out as they get caught up in the energetic atmosphere."
