Take positive steps to wellbeing this Christmas

The National Trust has teamed up with specialist insurer RIAS to launch a keep active campaign offering Brits nationwide the opportunity to beat the festive bulge as well as offer a novel way to bond with family this Christmas.

A selection of walks covering some of the country's most beautiful coastal, woodland and riverside routes can be downloaded from the National Trust website along with maps and directions to points of interest.

Janet Connor, managing director of RIAS, says: "Walking is a great way to exercise for all ages. It is fun – and a sociable activity for family and friends to take part in at this festive time.

"Through our sponsorship of the National Trust walks, we hope to encourage more people to take pleasure in our beautiful countryside by going for walks on a crisp winter's day to watch the wonders of our wildlife."

Walking can be a great way of working off the stresses and strains that Christmas can bring and refreshes body and mind after the season of parties and over-indulgence.
