Summer days 'perfect' for starting new fitness plan
07 May 2008

Weight loss is more common in summer than at any other time of year, as we tend to lose more weight naturally during the warmer months, it is claimed.
As we make the transition from winter woollies to summer outfits, many women across the country feel a renewed hope for change, whether it be improving body shape, style or boosting overall well-being.
Nutritionist Sheila Boyde commented: "Animals react to the changing seasons with mood, metabolism and behaviour, and humans are the same.
"Evidence shows that our 'happy hormone', serotonin, increases during the longer and lighter days of summer. This is the time to capitalise on increased feelings of wellbeing and energy to begin your personalised diet plan."
With an abundance of fruit and vegetables now in season, lighter food options on the menu and increased motivation to exercise after a long day at work, it is much easier to commit to a healthier lifestyle at this time of year.
According to weight-loss expert Bodyidplan.com, 20 per cent of the UK population are permanently on a mission to shape up.
