Post-surgery adjustment 'takes time'28 Jan 2008
Almost two thirds of those who undergo cosmetic surgery take up to six months to get used to their new appearance, according to new research. A recent study from the Harley Medical Group found that before and after pictures serve as an integral part of the recovery process by allowing patients to feel comfortable with the difference in way they look. Liz Dale from the Harley Medical Group said: "It is very important for the patient to understand the full extent of what they have gone through and its life altering effects. It is an essential part of the recovery process. "With the use of before and after pictures we enable the patient to visualise the dramatic change they've experienced. Patients often carry the photos around with them as a constant reminder of what they've been through."The research showed that 36 per cent of cosmetic surgery patients could not imagine how they used to look before their procedures. Breast enlargement, liposuction, tummy tuck, breast reduction and face lifts are the current top five cosmetic procedures in the UK. Discuss this item in our forums
