Positive steps towards healthier skin11 Mar 2008
Between the months of April and June this year, Brits are encouraged to get walking to help raise funds for the British Skin Foundation. Supported by skin care brand Sanex and TV presenter Tania Bryer, Walk for Skin will hold a series of nine sponsored walking events across the UK to help raise money for further research into skin disease. Commenting on the events, Tania said: "Skin disease affects around eight million people in the UK, but is an area that is perhaps less known or understood. So, I'm getting involved to help raise awareness of the Walk for Skin and the need for vital funds for such a good cause!"Statistics show that 70 per cent of British adults are not getting enough exercise. Walking for 30 minutes at an easy pace burns 150-200 calories compared to 30 minutes of sex which burns on average just 54 calories. Like chocolate, walking also releases the body's natural feel-good hormones, endorphins, improving overall concentration and wellbeing.Discuss this item in our forums
