Walking can offer a wide range of health benefits and is a flexible way for busy mums to boost their fitness and wellbeing, experts say. Exercise such as walking and jogging not only improves cardiovascular fitness but also helps maintain a healthy weight and balanced blood sugar and cholesterol levels. For those who have high stress levels or suffer from depression or anxiety, taking regular walks has proven psychological benefits as it produces stress busting endorphins and an overall sense of well-being. A new study from Stanford Medical School shows that people who use a pedometer to set goals walk one mile or an extra 2,000 steps further each day than those who don't, meaning that they stay trim and reduce their blood pressure along the way. In May this year, Hollywood celebrities including Sheryl Crow, Eva Mendes, Jessica Alba and Mandy Moore teamed up to walk in support of cancer survivors for the Revlon Run/Walk For Women's Cancer.
