Family travel 'to become parent-friendly'15 Feb 2008
Family travel is on the verge of change, with more emphasis being put on satisfying the needs of parents, according to one expert in the industry.Speaking to the Times newspaper, Sian Williams who founded a website which directs parents to child-friendly hotels, says that parents are starting to look for something different when they take a break with their youngsters.Rather than family travel being focused on being 'child-friendly', Ms Williams expects that travellers could start to see hotels offering more 'parent-friendly' deals. She said: "The boutique hotel generation is growing up and having children and as such they are demanding more from family holidays than simply child-friendly facilities. "A new breed of boutique hotels, self-catering cottages and apartments are emerging with cutting-edge style for parents and children alike."She highlighted some hotels which are already starting to introduce activities designed to suit mum and dad, including The Cove in Cornwall, which Ms Williams says is offering "Easter egg hunts and painting along-side 'yoga in the yurt'" from next month.
