Colonic hydrotherapy 'popular with detoxing Brits'11 Jan 2008
Colonic hydrotherapy treatments can be an effective way of detoxing the system, resulting in a healthier bowel and improved sense of wellbeing, according to the Body Works Clinic. Contrary to popular belief colonic hydrotherapy is not a weight-loss treatment but is a cleansing method used to get rid of residual waste caused by a poor diet. Karen Horn, a colonic hydrotherapist, explained: "If your diet has little fibre, no fruits and vegetables, then your system is going to suffer, and as a result your colon is going to be in a very poor condition because you won't have the bulk from the fibre to make the colon work effectively."In December 2007, the Food Standards Agency dismissed detox diets as "nonsense". This officially recognised treatment has become increasingly popular with health conscious Brits having been brought to public attention by TV programmes and documentaries such as Gillian McKeith's You Are What You Eat. Increasing numbers of people suffering with digestive problems has boosted the amount of people signing up for the detoxifying treatment. Discuss this item in our forums
