Cardio-pilates 'latest trend in fitness'12 Dec 2007
A new fitness trend has descended upon London, offering busy mums the opportunity to tone with the added benefits of an aerobics class or cardiovascular workout. TenPilates combines the body-shaping techniques of conventional Pilates with the fitness-enhancing power of an aerobic workout. Pilates and fitness expert David Higgins explained: "The important thing about this style of Pilates is that it offers a good aerobic workout. Most of us have super-busy lives, so the idea behind this revolutionary system is to combine the body-shaping, core-strengthening power of Pilates with the cardiovascular workout our hearts and lungs need." "Unlike aerobics, though, you're not jumping around and causing pressure on the joints, which can lead to problems later," he added. The body sculpting workouts promise to help create a slimmer, more toned figure by using a varied routine of different positions and postures. Celebrity mums such as Liz Hurley have been said to do Pilates to get back in shape after pregnancy as it strengthens abdominal and pelvic muscles. Discuss this item in our forums
